COVID-19 recovery rate exceeds 94pc in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, Jan 12, 2021 (BSS) – The average recovery rate of coronavirus (COVID-19) infected patients has crossed the 94 percent mark in Rangpur division where the infection rate continues to decline during the last three weeks.

“A total of 14,639 coronavirus patients out total 15,533 have healed at the average recovery rate of 94.24 percent in the division,” Focal Person of COVID-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui told BSS today.

Meanwhile, a total of 98,219 collected samples of Rangpur division were tested till Monday, and of them, 15,533 were found COVID-19 positive with an average infection rate of 15.81 percent.

At the same time, 23 more coronavirus infected patients recovered on Monday raising their total number to 14,629 in the division.

The 14,639 recovered patients include 3,531 of Rangpur, 741 of Panchagarh, 1,282 of Nilphamari, 941 of Lalmonirhat, 953 of Kurigram, 1,398 of Thakurgaon, 4,385 of Dinajpur and 1,408 of Gaibandha districts,” Dr. Siddique said.

Meanwhile, 11 new COVID-19 positive cases were reported after testing 315 collected samples at the two COVID-19 Laboratories with the daily infection rate of 3.49 percent on Monday raising the total number of patients to 15,533 in the division.

“The district-wise break up of the total 15,533 patients stands at 3,960 in Rangpur, 776 in Panchagarh, 1,316 in Nilphamari, 959 in Lalmonirhat, 1,002 in Kurigram, 1,495 in Thakurgaon, 4,581 in Dinajpur and 1,444 in Gaibandha districts,” Dr. Siddiqui added.

Talking to BSS, Divisional Director (Health) Dr. Md. Ahad Ali said the daily COVID-19 infection rate remained below 10 percent amid rising recovery rate during the last three weeks in Rangpur division.

The daily COVID-19 infection rates were 7.79 percent on Sunday, 5.20 percent on Saturday, 8.16 percent on Friday, 6.81 percent on Thursday, 7.10 percent on Wednesday, 7.73 percent on Tuesday and 9.50 percent on Monday last in the division.

Meanwhile, the number of fatalities remained steady at 300 in the division with no more deaths reported from anywhere on Monday.

The district-wise break up of the 300 fatalities stands at 70 in Rangpur, 108 in Dinajpur, 32 in Thakurgaon, 27 in Nilphamari, 15 in Kurigram, 20 in Panchagarh, 17 in Gaibandha and 11 in Lalmonirhat districts of the division,” he said.

The average casualty rate currently stands at 1.93 percent in the division.

“Among the total 15,533 COVID-19 infected patients, 33 are undergoing treatments at isolation units of different hospitals after recovery of 14,639 patients and 300 deaths while 561 remaining in home isolations across the division,” Dr. Ali added.

Chief of Divisional Coronavirus Service and Prevention Task Force and Principal of Rangpur Medical College Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnabi Lyzu said the rate of COVID-19 infection spread continues declining consistently in recent weeks.

He especially called upon common people to sincerely wear masks and strictly abide by the health directives to remain safe and keep others secured from the deadly virus in the division.
