Meeting on ‘Out of School Children’ held in Manikganj

MANIKGANJ, Jan 11, 2021 (BSS) – An awareness meeting on “Out of school Children” was held today at the conference room of Deputy Commissioner here under the auspices of Department of Primary and Mass education.

SM Ferdous, deputy commissioner of Manikganj, was present in the meeting as the chief guest with Additional Deputy Commissioner (Gen) Md Moniruzzaman in the chair.

Government officials, members of civil society, workers of local print and electronic media and representatives of NGO took part in the meeting.

The speakers said that apart from providing free textbooks in schools, the government has taken various initiatives to increase the attraction of students towards school such as providing food in schools, giving stipends at secondary and higher secondary education levels.

Besides, most of the school buildings are now well equipped with separate sanitation facilities for boys and girls, they added.

In addition to appointing qualified teachers in all primary and secondary schools, the government has also ensured all kinds of supervision, including appointment of teachers in all non-government schools, the speakers mentioned.

Chief Executive Officer of Manikganj Zila Parishad Dur-Re Shahwaj, Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) of Manikganj Sadar Md Iqbal Hossain, District Education Officer (DEO) Md Faridul Islam, District Primary Education Officer (DPEO) Taposh Kumar Adhikary and Assistant Director of Primary and Mass Education Nikhil Chandra Karmakar spoke, among others, on the occasion.
