Stocks witness up on large-cap vibe

DHAKA, Jan 10, 2021 (BSS) – Stocks today witnessed an upward trend as major indices of both Dhaka and Chittagong Stock Exchanges were found rising with higher activities of some large-cap securities.

The broader DSEX index of the DSE closed the session with 12.28 points up at 5,634.05. The Shariah DSES and the blue-chip DS30 followed the same trend with 7.98 points up at 1,273.92 and with 19.12 points up at 2,067.19 respectively.

The volume of shares decreased to 59.73 crore from Thursday’s 64.73 crore shares and the daily turnover in value at the DSE fell to Taka 15,056.82 million from Thursday’s Taka 17,081.07 million.

At the DSE, the price of 168 securities out of the day’s 362 closed higher against 149 losing issues.

The major gaining issues were IPDC, PF1STMF, Robi, LHBL and NHFIL while the major losing issues were National Polymer, Active Fine, Dulamia Cotton, Prime Insurance and Zeal Bangla.

Beximco topped the turnover leaders followed by Lankabangla Finance, LHBL, Beximco Pharma and IFIC.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed the day of the week with an upward trend with its major CASPI 39.11 points up at 16,388.09.

At the CSE, 273 issues were traded. Of those, 126 closed higher and 113 closed lower when 2.51 crore shares worth Taka 52.93 crore changed hands.
