Govt working to take private sector forward: Rezaul Karim

RANGPUR, Jan 10, 2021 (BSS) – Fisheries and Livestock Minister SM Rezaul Karim has said the present government is working sincerely to take private sector industries forward to further accelerate the country’s advancement.

“The country is moving forward at an irresistible pace under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on the way to build a devolved Sonar Bangla as dreamt by Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman,” he said.

The minister was speaking as the chief guest at the inaugural function of the country’s first ever high-tech dairy firm established by Eon Group, the largest agro-based business organisation at Badarganj upazila of the district on Saturday afternoon.

“This is the country’s first high-tech dairy farm in the public or private sectors,” he said.

If other private industrialists come forward following the footstep of Eon Group, milk production can be increased further, paving the way to export after meeting its local demand, he added.

He said the government continues providing special incentives to the livestock sector during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and brought over two crore people affected by the pandemic under various incentive packages.

“Currently, Bangladesh ranks twentieth in the world in dealing with the coronavirus pandemic. This is a huge success of the present government,” he said.

Secretary of the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock Raunak Mahmud, Director General of the Department of Animal Resources Dr. Abdul Jabbar Sikder and Director General of the Department of Fisheries Quazi Shams Afroz attended the function as special guests.

Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Eon Group Momin Ud Daulah presided over the function held at the farm premises.

Officials of Eon group told reporters that the organisation brought 225 pregnant Pure Brody Holstein Friesian cows from Australia by cargo flight in November, 2019 aiming at ensuring safe milk supply to consumers.

They are milking the cows through an automated machine without touching them and the milk is being automatically pasteurised.

Each cow has three Internet of Things (IoT) sensors in the body. Through the IoT sensors, each cow’s eating habits, physical condition, lactation condition, proper use of drugs, reproductive health are being monitored and measured accurately.

In order to make antibiotic-free milk available to the consumers, antibiotic-taking cows are automatically being segregated so that milk containing antibiotics does not enter the main processing channel under any circumstances.

Aflatoxin cannot enter the body of the cow as the cow feed is prepared and fed immediately in the imported machine in the right way, so the milk of the cow is free of aflatoxin.

Aflatoxin reaches the cow’s body mainly through fungal foods, the Eon Group officials said.
