Mujib Birth Centenary Rating Chess inaugurated
DHAKA, Jan 9, 2021 (BSS)- Mujib Birth Centenary Invitational FIDE Rating Chess tournament was formally inaugurated today (Saturday) at the conference room of National Sports Council old building in the city, said a press release.
Mohammad Shafiqul Islam, BPM (BAR), commissioner, Dhaka Metropolitan Police, formally inaugurated the meet as the chief guest while Brigadier General Shahidullah Chowdhury, ndc (Retd.), executive director, Abul Khair Group was present as the special guest. Sponsored by Abul Khair Group the event was organized by Bangladesh Chess Federation (BCF).

BCF vice president KM Shahidullah and chairman tournament Committee presided over the opening ceremony.
A total of forty-four players including GM Ziaur Rahman, IM Mohammad Fahad Rahman, IM Mohammad Minhaz Uddin, IM Abu Sufian Shakil, WIM Rani Hamid, FM Subrota Biswas, FM Mohammad Javed, FM Sheikh Nasir Ahmed, FM Mehdi Hasan Parag, FM Syed Mahfuzur Rahman, FM Md Saif Uddin Lavlu, WFM Noshin Anjum, WFM Nazrana Khan Eve, CM Manon Reja Neer, CM Sohel Chowdhury, CM Md. Sharif Hossain, CM S M Sharon, CM Tahsin Tajwar Zia, CM Jamal Uddin, CM Mahtabuddin Ahmed, CM Nayem Haque and CM Monir Hossain are taking part in the tournament.
The competition is being held on eight-days with 9-round Swiss-League system and the winners will be awarded total cash prizes of Taka three lakh fifty thousand.
The champion will receive Taka one lakh while runners-up will get Taka fifty thousand, third place finisher will receive Taka thirty thousand and Taka fifty thousand for separate female players.
The second round games start tomorrow (Sunday) from 3 pm at the same venue.
