25,195 infected with coronavirus, 23,975 recover in Khulna division

KHULNA, Jan 9, 2021 (BSS) – With detection of 13 new positive cases in all ten districts of the division, the total number of COVID-19 infected patients now hit 25,195 till this noon.

A total of 23,975 persons have been cured from the lethal virus and the recovery rate now stands at 95.15 percent, Assistant Director for Khulna division Dr. Ferdousi Akhter told BSS.

A number of 13 new positive cases were found after testing 56 samples at the Khulna Medical College Laboratory and two others COVID-19 laboratories in Khulna division in the last 24 hours till this noon.

Of the total new positive cases, 10 were detected in Khulna, followed by three in Kushtia.

With the new detected cases, the district-wise break-up of the patients are 7,232 in Khulna, 4,672 in Jashore, 3,796 in Kushtia, 2,309 in Jhenaidah, 1,652 in Chuadanga, 1,531 in Narail, 1,157 in Satkhira, 1,041 in Bagerhat, 1,053 in Magura and 752 in Meherpur, Dr. Ferdousi said.

“Among the total 25,195 corona virus infected persons, 2,884 are undergoing treatment at isolation units of different hospitals as 23,975 have recovered and 446 died while the rest are taking treatment in isolation at their respective homes in the division,” she added.

Talking to BSS today, Divisional Director (Health) Dr. Rasheda Sultana said the number of total fatalities stands at 446 in the division with no more death reported on Friday.

The district-wise break-up of the death tolls are 115 in Khulna, 86 in Kushtia, 55 in Jashore, 40 in Jheneidah, 40 in Chuadanga, 32 in Satkhira, 26 in Bagerhat, 20 in Narail,16 in Meherpur and 16 in Magura in the division.

“The average casualty rate now stands at 1.77 percent in the division,” she mentioned.

On the other hand, a total of 18 more people have been sent to home and institutional quarantine afresh while 16 others were released overnight.

A total of 66,842 people had, so far, been kept under home quarantine and isolation at hospital.

Of them, 65,452 have been released as they were given clearance certificates after completing their respective 14-day quarantine period and 2,884 are currently remaining in home or institutional quarantine in the division.
