Two held with huge smuggled ganja in Rangpur

RANGPUR, Jan 9, 2021 (BSS) – Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-13) seized 21.80 kgs of smuggled ganja and arrested two presumed drug traders from village Joyrampur in Mithapukur upazila of the district on Friday night.

“An operational team of the Crime Prevention Specialised Company (CPSC) of RAB-13 searched a stone-laden cargo truck and arrested its driver and helper with smuggled dry ganja and other goods,” said a press release issued here this afternoon.

During the raid, the elite force seized the smuggled ganja especially packed in four sacs, three mobile phone sets, the truck, three SIM cards and a memory card and Taka 9,000 in cash from the possessions of the arrested persons.

The arrested people are truck driver Md. Sabuz Khan, 35, of village Narayanpur and helper Abdullah Al Mamun alias Mamun alias Humayun, 22, of village Nagarbari Ghat Roghunathpur (Paschim Para) in Aminpur upazila of Pabna district.

“During primary interrogation, the arrested persons admitted that they had been tactfully carrying the smuggled ganja after purchasing those from Burimari Land Port in Patgram upazila of Lalmonirhat to Sadar upazila area in Pabna district,” the release added.

After filing a case in this connection, the elite force handed over the arrested drug traders to Mithapukur police station in Rangpur today.
