SIRAJGANJ, Jan 8, 2021 (BSS)- Two women were killed and two others injured in a road accident in Parkola area under Shahzadpur upazila of the district this morning.
The deceased were identified as Saleka Begum and Qazli Khatun of Parkola village under the upazila and the injured are Anshar Ali and Omukta Khatun.
Sub-Inspector (SI) of Sirajganj Highway Police Station Hasibul Islam said the accident occurred when a speeding Pabna-bound chips-laden pickup van hit a battery-run vehicle from behind in the area as its driver lost control over the steering. The van fell into a roadside ditch after colliding with a tree, leaving two women dead on the spot and injuring two others, he added.
The injured were admitted to Shahzadpur Upazila Health Complex.
Police seized the pickup van but its driver and helper managed to escape, the SI further said.
A case was filed with Shahzadpur Police Station in this connection.
