Army provides treatments to 2,000 rural people in Rangpur

RANGPUR, Jan 7, 2021 (BSS) – Bangladesh Army provided quality health services and medicines free of costs to some 2,000 people of all ages at a medical camp held at Paglapeer School and College ground in Rangpur Sadar upazila here on Wednesday.

Under management of 66 Infantry Division and 72 Infantry Brigade of Rangpur Area of Bangladesh Army conducted the camp under supervision of 30 BIR Battalion to provide free health services to common people.

30 BIR Battalion provided health services on behalf of 72 Infantry Brigade of 66 Infantry Division as a part of its special healthcare services marking the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Winter Training 2020/2021.

Brigade Commander of 72 Infantry Brigade Brigadier General Aung Chaw Sa Maung inaugurated the camp and inspected health services on maternal health, gynecological problems, pediatrics and other illnesses to people of different ages.

Commanding Officer of 30 BIR Battalion Lieutenant Colonel Md. Hedayetul Islam, Captain Mir Ali Ekram, Lieutenant Tanzim Fahim Himel, Senior Warrant Officer Sheikh Mahabubul Murshed and Senior Warrant Officer Habibur Rahman Habib were present.

A five-member medical team, including two female physicians of Army, provided improved health care with various tests medicines free of cost to about 2,000 people of all ages, including men, women, pregnant women, newborn babies and children.

Among the specialist doctors of the Army present were Lieutenant Colonel Zinnia Sultana, Gynecologist and Obstetrician Kazi Shafiqul Alam, Surgical Specialist, Lieutenant Colonel Mahfuzur Rahman, Capt. Nayeem and Captain Jannat.

Meanwhile, the beneficiary people expressed satisfaction over getting free medical services and medicines from the members of the army.

Sufia Begum from Paglapeer area said, “I am very happy with the quality health services and getting free medicines given to me by the army who also found out my diseases like other people at the camp.”

About medical service activities, Lieutenant Colonel Hedayetul said Bangladesh Army began creating awareness on social distancing, providing food aid, health services, hand sanitizers and masks to the poor since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic.

In continuation of these activities, specialist doctors of Bangladesh Army started providing health care services like free medical treatment, tests and medicines to the poor, needy and distressed people at all upazila levels.

He called upon people to maintain social distancing, wear masks and abide by the health directives to prevent community transmission of COVID-19 and effectively face the situation.
