34 gamblers arrested in city
DHAKA, Jan 5, 2021 (BSS) – The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in separate drives arrested 34 gamblers in capital’s Kadamtali, Demra and South Keraniganj police station areas.
“During the 24-hour operation, 31 mobile phone sets, Taka 31,796 and 577 pieces of gambling cards were seized from their possessions,” Additional DIG Mahfuzur Rahman, Commander of RAB-10, told BSS today.
The detainees include Md Nayan,28, Mohammad Farhad, 30, Md Alamgir Hossain, 50, Md Habib, 30, Md Bhulu, 55, Alamgir Hossain, 35, Milon, 30, Md Swapan Mia, 32, Md Ratan Dealer, 35, Md Siddiqur Rahman, 35, Mohammad Khalil, 36, Md Solaiman ,31, Abdul Momin 50, Md Titu 40, Md Hossain, 38, Md. Siddique, 45, Raju Sardar,24, Hossain Babu,18, Md. Abdus Salam, 45, Md Rubel,28 and Manik Hossain, 34, Md Iqbal Sheikh,30, Md Syed Hossain,52, Md Jewel,21, Md Sajib, 20, Md Selim,35, Lahu Munshi, 21, Md Badsha, 28, Md Nazrul Islam,28, Md Nur Alam (23), Mojibar Rahman, 55, Nazrul, 48, Md Shukur Ali, 40, and Kalam Sheikh, 65.
The RAB officer said during the preliminary interrogation, the detainees admitted that they were professional gamblers and involved in various criminal activities.
Separate cases were filed against them with respective police stations in this connection.
