catchment areas of six suspended sugar mills, to the government in a peaceful
environment.

As sugarcane threshing is in progress at present, the purchased sugarcane
is being supplied to the nearby sugar mills.

This was disclosed today at a virtual discussion of Bangladesh Sugar and

while State Minister for Industries Kamal Ahmed Mojumder, lawmakers of the
concerned areas, Prime Minister’s Principal Secretary Dr Ahmad Kaikaus, BSFIC
Chairman Md Arifur Rahman Apu and former Chairman Sanat Kumar Shah, among

profitable.

Foreign investment proposals are being considered to increase the
productivity of sugar mills through modern technology, he added.

He called upon all concerned to modernise the sugar mills under the
direction of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Emphasizing on the appointment of a competent and efficient officer as the
managing director of the sugar mill, Kamal Ahmed Mojumder said that it was
necessary to ensure that the procurement of sugarcane was done properly.

He instructed the concerned authority to conduct an audit to ascertain the
financial condition of the state-owned sugar mills and said strict action
would be taken against anyone involved in financial irregularities.

At the same time, he urged the consumers to use healthy native sugarcane
sugar.
