Rabeya Khatun’s death an irreparable loss to Bangla literature: Hasan

DHAKA, Jan 4, 2021 (BSS) – Paying rich tribute to noted litterateur
Rabeya Khatun, Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud today said the sad
demise of Rabeya Khatun is an irreparable loss to the field of Bangla
literature.

“Rabeya Khatun was one of the writers of the country who enriched
the Bangla litterateur. She wrote about 50 novels and more than 400
short stories,” he told reporters after placing floral wreaths on the
coffin of Rabeya at Bangla Academy in the capital.

The information minister prayed for eternal peace of the departed
soul of Rabeya Khatun and said there is a few notable women writers
like her (Rabeya) in Bangla literature. “It was not so easy to
practice literature for a woman when she began the practices . . . She
enriched the Bangla literature,” said Hasan, also Awami League joint
general secretary.

He said Rabeya Khatun not only enriched the Bangla literature
herself, but also raised her full family with cultural-minded. Faridur
Reza Sagar, a son of Rabeya Khatun, is nurturing the culture and
heritage of Bangladesh through Channel i along with running the
private TV channel, he added.

Hasan said other offspring of Rabeya Khatun are also keeping role
in enriching the culture of the country.
