25,078 infected, 23,866 recover in Khulna COVID-19

KHULNA, Jan 4, 2021 (BSS) – With detection of 33 new positive cases in ten districts of the division, the total number of COVID-19 infected patients now hit 25,078 till this noon.

A total of 23,866 have been cured from the lethal virus infection and recovery rate now stands at 95.17 percent,” Assistant Director (Health) for Khulna division Dr. Ferdousi Akhter told BSS.

The total number of COVID-19 patients rose to 25,078 with 44 new positive cases were reported after testing 126 samples at the Khulna Medical College Laboratory and two others COVID-19 laboratories in Khulna division in the last 24 hours till this noon.

Of the total new positive cases, 14 were detected in Jashore followed by six in Kushtia, four in Chuadanga, three in Khulna, two in Magura and one each in Narail, Meherpur, Jhenidah and Bagerhat in the division.

With the new detected cases, the district-wise break-up of the patients are 7,192 in Khulna, 4,642 in Jashore, 3,783 in Kushtia, 2,292 in Jhenaidah, 1,646 in Chuadanga, 1,526 in Narail, 1,156 in Satkhira, 1,038 in Bagerhat, 1,051 in Magura and 752 in Meherpur, she added.

“Among the total 25,078 corona virus infected persons, 2,858 are undergoing treatment at isolation units of different hospitals as 23,866 have been recovered and 445 died while the rest are undergoing treatment in isolation at their respective homes in the division”, Dr. Ferdousi continued.

Talking to BSS today, Divisional Director (Health) Dr. Rasheda Sultana said the number of total fatalities stands at 445 in the division with one more death was reported in Satkhira in the division on Sunday.

The district-wise break-up of the death tolls are 115 in Khulna, 86 in Kushtia, 55 in Jashore, 40 in Jhenaidah, 39 in Chuadanga, 32 in Satkhira, 26 in Bagerhat, 20 in Narail,16 in Meherpur and 16 in Magura in the division.

“The average casualty rate among all 25,078 COVID-19 positive cases now stands at 1.75 percent in the division,” she mentioned.
