Zabbar for using Bangla in writing, research activities

DHAKA, July 10, 2018 (BSS) – The government has been implementing a project so that Bangla speaking people can use Bangla language online for writing and research purposes from any part of the world, said posts, telecommunications and technology minister Mostafa Zabbar.

“The use and practice of Bangla language will be increased when this project of the government will be completed,” he said while speaking at a discussion meeting on “Bangla Unicode Alphabet (Lipi) Development” at Bangla Academy here today.

Bangla Academy and Neo-Brahmi Generation Panel of India took part in the discussion.

National Professor and Nazrul Institute chairman Dr Rafiqul Islam presided over the discussion while director general of Bangla Academy Prof Shamsuzzaman Khan, Indian chapter chief of the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) Samiran Gupta took part in the discussion while Swarshit Sarkar moderated it.

Mostafa Zabbar said Bangladesh will not accept any forcibly imposed proposal regarding the use, practice and development of Bangla language.

The present government has constituted a committee for the development of Bangla language and issues like improvement of Bangla alphabet and other development of Bangla language must be discussed with this committee, he added.

Later, Mostafa Zabbar inaugurated ‘www.library.banglaacademy.org.bd’ of Bangla Academy. Now people will be able to read and download e-book from this website.
