JU VC mourns death of Bangladesh MahilaParishad president Ayesha Khanam

SAVAR, January 2, 2021 (BSS) – Jahangirnagar University (JU) Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Farzana Islam on Saturday expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of freedom fighter and president of Bangladesh MahilaParishad Ayesha Khanam.

In a condolence message, the VC recalled the glorious career of Ayesha Khanam and said that her death has created a vacuum in the arena of women’s leadership. The nation have lost a competent women leader which is an irreparable loss to the country.

DrFarzana prayed for the eternal peace of her departed soul and conveyed sympathy to the bereaved family members.

The heroic freedom fighter Ayesha, who had been suffering from cancer, breathed her last at a hospital in the capital on Saturday morning.

She was an active organiser in the student movement of 1962, the mass uprising in 1969, and fought in the great liberation war of Bangladesh in 1971.
