93.09pc Covid-19 patients recover in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, Jan 2, 2021 (BSS) – More than 93.09 percent Covid-19 infected patients have already recovered on an average in Rangpur division where the daily infection rate consistently continues to decline in recent weeks.

“A total of 15,383 coronavirus patients out total 14,320 have recovered at the average recovery rate of 93.09 percent in the division,” Focal Person of COVID-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui told BSS today.

Meanwhile, a total of 95,876 collected samples of Rangpur division were tested till Friday, and of them, 15,383 were found COVID-19 positive with an average infection rate of 16.04 percent.

The recovery rate of COVID-19 patients continues increasing amid a falling trend in the daily infection rate and little rise in the death rate in recent weeks in the division.

Meanwhile, 10 more coronavirus infected patients recovered on Friday raising their total number to 14,320 in all eight districts across the division.

The 14,320 recovered COVID-19 patients include 3,426 of Rangpur, 728 of Panchagarh, 1,267 of Nilphamari, 930 of Lalmonirhat, 934 of Kurigram, 1,369 of Thakurgaon, 4,273 of Dinajpur and 1,393 of Gaibandha districts,” Dr. Siddique said.

Meanwhile, 17 new COVID-19 positive cases were reported after testing 183 collected samples at the two COVID-19 Laboratories in Rangpur and Dinajpur on Friday raising their total number to 15,383 in the division.

“The district-wise break up of 15,383 patients stands at 3,928 in Rangpur, 769 in Panchagarh, 1,309 in Nilphamari, 956 in Lalmonirhat, 1,000 in Kurigram, 1,482 in Thakurgaon, 4,507 in Dinajpur and 1,432 in Gaibandha districts,” Dr. Siddiqui added.

Talking to BSS, Divisional Director (Health) Dr. Md. Ahad Ali said the daily COVID-19 infection rate continues to remain under 10 percent during the last week in Rangpur division.

“The recorded daily COVID-19 infection rates were 9.29 percent on Friday, 8.87 percent on Thursday, 4.79 percent on Wednesday, 6.91 percent on Tuesday, 8.59 percent on Monday and 7.98 percent on Sunday last in the division,” he said.

Meanwhile the number of fatalities rose to 296 in the division with three more deaths reported from Dinajpur on Friday.

“The district-wise break up of the 296 fatalities stands at 69 in Rangpur, 107 in Dinajpur, 32 in Thakurgaon, 27 in Nilphamari, 15 in Kurigram, 20 in Panchagarh, 15 in Gaibandha and 11 in Lalmonirhat districts of the division,” he said.

The average casualty rate currently stands at around 1.92 percent in the division.

“Among the total 15,383 COVID-19 infected patients, 41 are undergoing treatments at isolation units of different hospitals after recovery of 14,320 patients and 296 deaths while 726 remaining in home isolations across the division,” Dr. Ali added.

Chief of Divisional Coronavirus Service and Prevention Task Force and Principal of Rangpur Medical College Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnabi Lyzu said the rate of COVID-19 spread continues declining consistently in recent weeks in Rangpur division.

“Common people should sincerely wear masks and strictly abide by the health directives to remain safe and prevent further community spread of the deadly virus in the division,” Dr. Lyzu added.
