Hindu children are being developed as worthy citizens: Faridul

JAMALPUR, Jan 1, 2021 (BSS) – State Minister for Religious Affairs
Md Faridul Haque Khan today said the children of Hindu community are
being developed as worthy citizens by imparting religious and moral
education at pre-primary level through the Temple Based Child and Mass
Literacy Programme.

“The Temple Based Child and Mass Literacy Programme is playing an
important role in making the morally worthy citizens of a developed
Bangladesh by 2041, announced by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina,” he
said.

The state minister was addressing the inaugural function of the
book distribution programme for the 2021 academic year of the Temple
Based Child and Mass Literacy Programme (Phase-5) through
videoconferencing, a ministry press release said.

Speaking as the chief guest, he said, Prime Minister Sheikh
Hasina’s government has brought a revolution in the country’s
education sector.

Books are being distributed among millions of students every year
on the first day of a new year, Faridul said.

Apart from the Ministry of Primary Education and the Education
Ministry and Madrasa Education Board, he said, the Ministry of
Religious Affairs is playing an important role in pre-primary
education activities.

The state minister said on the first day of the year, book
distribution programme was inaugurated by distributing books and
educational materials among the students of 64 centres in the
country’s 64 districts under the Temple Based Child and Mass Literacy
Programme.

Under the programme, books will be distributed gradually among
1,92,250 students at 4,650 centres, he said.

Vice-Chairman of the Hindu Religious Welfare Trust Subrata Paul
also spoke at the meeting with project director of the temple-based
programme Ranjit Kumar Das in the chair.

Religious Affairs Secretary Dr Md Nurul Islam, the senior
vice-chairman of the Hindu Religious Welfare Trust, its vice-chairmen,
trustees, project officials and teachers, among others, joined the
virtual meeting.
