JAMALPUR, Jan 1, 2021 (BSS) – Six candidates have filed nomination papers for the post of mayor while 10 for the post of three women reserved councilors post and 52 for the post of councilors in nine wards.
These candidates submitted their nomination papers to the Sarishabari upazila election office on Thursday.
Election office sources said Awami League, BNP and four independent candidates submitted their nomination papers to the returning officer for the post of mayor.
The mayoral candidates are Md Monir Uddin(AL), AKM Foyzul Kabir Talukdar Shahin (BNP), Meher Jahan Aktar (Ind), Fazlul Haque Kahan (Ind), Mohi Uddin (Ind) and Rafiqul Islam (Ind).
District Election Officer and Returning Officer Golam Mostafa said the scrutiny of the nomination papers will be held on January 3.
