Pregnant mothers get proper health care at Jamalpur MCWC

JAMALPUR, Jan 1, 2021 (BSS) – Pregnant mothers are getting proper health
services at Jamalpur Mother and Child Welfare Center (MCWC).

A good number of poor patients’ especially pregnant mothers from various
places are coming to the MCWC for health services.

Jamalpur MCWC sources said during the last five months, 341 pregnant
mothers got delivery service free of cost in the hospital.

During the period, 247 pregnant mothers underwent normal delivery by the
skilled attendants of the hospital as 94 pregnant women in critical condition
underwent caesarian operation for giving birth to babies, they said.

While visiting Jamalpur MCWC, the BSS correspondent found ten poor mothers,
who had caesarian operation made, in post operation cabins of the centre.

One of them, Mina, 30, wife of Murad at village Pingalhati in Jamalpur
Sadar Upazila, gave birth to her third baby at the MCWC through caesarian
operation.

She said “I am grateful to MCWC authority for the operation free of cost
as my poor husband could not bear the expense of at least Tk 15000 needed for
caesarian operation in private hospital”.

Another woman Beauty, 19, wife of Hasan who came from remote Char area in
Melandah Upazila of the district, gave birth to her first baby through
caesarian operation.

She said “I have got service free of cost at MCWC”. She also expressed
satisfaction over the service.

Medical Officer (Clinic), MCWC, Dr Omme Habiba said the poor pregnant
mothers can undergo caesarian operation free of cost at the hospital.

She said the government provides almost costly medicine to the patients in
the hospital.

During the peak period of Coronavirus pandemic, caesarian operation was
stopped for safety ground and the service resumed in August last, she added.

She said 58 normal delivery and 3 caesarian operation were taken place in
August while 50 normal and 25 caesarian in September, 49 normal and 18
caesarian in October, 46 normal and 23 caesarian in November and 44 normal
and 25 caesarian in December.

She said about 300 adolescent get treatment and advices from the centre in
a month while 350 to 400 pregnant mothers get anti natal care from it during
the time.

Pregnant mothers can also conduct all test here free of cost but lack of
ultra sonogram machine, they have to go outside only for doing this
particular test, she continued.

She also said married couples get family planning service from the MCWC as
well.

A total of 21 staff of the hospital always remains ready for providing
health service, she went on saying.

Deputy Director, Family Planning Department, Dr Sajda-E-Jannat Tanu said
aiming to ensure health service to the pregnant mothers, the present
government provides various logistic support.

Under the strict supervision, Jamalpur MCWC is now more vibrant in
providing service than any other time, she added.
