Mushfiqur expects a successful year after disappointing 2020

DHAKA, Dec 31, 2020 (BSS) — Bangladesh’s dependable batsman Mushfiqur Rahim is expecting a good year after much of the 2020 was eaten up by the Covid-19, a global pandemic that created a mayhem around the world.

In the year 2020, Bangladesh was able to play just two Test matches while they were scheduled to play a whopping number of 10 Tests. Mushfiqur however played just one as he skipped the Pakistan tour for playing a Test due to security fear.

His only Test was against Zimbabwe and in that Test, Mushfiqur played an unbeaten 203 runs knock to script Bangladesh’s innings and 106-run margin win against the opponent. It was Bangladesh’s only second innings margin victory.

The double century was Mushfiqur’s third while other two batsmen of Bangladesh—Tamim Iqbal and Shakib Al Hasan, who could hit a double century in Test cricket, has just one under their belt. This spoke a volume of Mushfiqur’s sheer ability to play a long innings in longer version format.

Mushfiqur’s celebration after that double century was a treat to watch. As he cut the bowler for a boundary to reach double hundred, he began the celebration, raising both hands before the ball as it reached the boundary rope.

After jumping into the air and throwing the bat, he threw another punch with his left hand. He took off his helmet and raised his hands in gratitude to the Creator. Even then the celebration did not stop. He punched his right hand again. Then take off the gloves and roar.

After the game, Mushfiqur Rahim said, “The celebration I had after the double century was actually for my son. My son is a big fan of dinosaurs. I wanted to celebrate as much as he did when he saw dinosaurs. ‘

Posting this celebration’s photo today in his verified facebook page, Mushfiqur Rahim wrote, “I haven’t had a chance to play Test cricket this year. But this moment is memorable to me. Inshallah, there will be more such moments next year.”
