No family will remain homeless: Palak

NATORE, Dec 31, 2020 (BSS): State Minister for Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Zunaid Ahmed Palak today said no family across the country would be homeless.

“No family across the country will remain homeless . . . The government is preparing a list of nine lakh homeless families throughout the country and constructing their houses in phases on the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman,” he added.

The state minister made the remarks while inspecting the progress of construction of houses for landless and homeless people on the Mujib Year in Majhgram area of Singra upazila.

“Bangabandhu not only gave us the gift of victory, but also started the work for building a happy and prosperous “Sonar Bangla (Golden Bengal)” by improving the fortunes of the country’s hardworking people,” Palak said.

He said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the daughter of the Bangabandhu, is working relentlessly by formulating an effective plan to complete the unfinished task of Bangabandhu.

On the occasion, the construction work of 65,726 houses at a cost of Taka 160 crore is near completion and the houses will be distributed properly within January 15 next.

Referring to the COVID-19 and its subsequent impact globally, Palak said the economies of many developed countries were at a stake during the Corona period. “But under the able and efficient leadership of Sheikh Hasina country’s economy did not collapse.”

The economy of Bangladesh will be one of the 25 developed economies in the world by 2035, he hoped.

Later, the state minister distributed blankets among the cold-stricken people at the Government Primary School Ground in Majhgram.
