Joypurhat SM produces 555 MT sugar

JOYPURHAT, Dec 31, 2020 (BSS) – The country’s largest sugar producer Joypurhat Sugar Mill has produced 555 metric tons of sugar by threshing 13,820 metric tonnes of sugarcane in the last 12 days.

The percentage of sugar extraction is 5.50 per cent.

Mill sources said 2020-2021 threshing season of Joypurhat Sugar Mill was inaugurated on December 18.

In the current sugarcane threshing season, the target has been set to produce 10,692 metric tons of sugar by threshing one lakh 62 thousand metric tons of sugarcane.

As per the decision of the government to reduce the continuous losses due to lack of sugarcane, this time one lakh 62 thousand metric tons of sugarcane will be threshed in three sugar mills of the northern region at Joypurhat Sugar Mill.

Of them 60,000 metric tons of sugarcane in Joypurhat area, 50,000 metric tons in Shampur Sugar Mill and 52,000 metric tons in Mahimaganj Sugar Mill.

The Joypurhat Sugar Mill Authority has set a target of producing 10,692 metric tonnes of sugar by threshing 1,62,000 metric tonnes of sugarcane collected from three mills in the current 2020-21 sugarcane threshing season.

The percentage of sugar extraction has been fixed at 6.60 per cent. This is the 56th threshing season of Joypurhat Sugar Mill. .

Meanwhile, 103 metric tonnes of sugarcane from Shampur Sugar Mill and 48 metric tonnes from Mahimaganj Sugar Mill area have been supplied to Joypurhat Sugar Mill, said Syed Md Abu Bakar, Managing Director of Joypurhat Sugar Mill.
