Rangpur PBI arrests killer in minor girl murder case
RANGPUR, Dec 31, 2020 (BSS) – Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) arrested a man in connection with clueless murder of a minor girl conducting an overnight drives using the latest information and communication technologies (ICT).
“A special PBI investigation team arrested the killer from Keranipara area of Rangpur metropolis making the best use of ICT,” Superintendent of Police (SP) of Rangpur PBI ABM Jakir Hossain disclosed at a press conference held at his office today.
The arrested killer is Jahurul Haque Rana alias Chhokku, 45, son of late Habibar Rahman of Barobari Sarkarpara area in the city under Kotwali Thana of Rangpur Metropolitan Police (RpMP).
Earlier, one Mobassira Akhter Maysha, 4, daughter of Monwar Hossain of the same Barobari Sarkarpara area went missing since she left her house for a nearby shop at 1 pm on Monday last.
“As she did not return, her parents searched her at all possible places and announced her missing news in the area using loudspeaker of a nearby mosque on the day,” SP Jakir said.
In the morning on Tuesday last, one neighbour of the victim found her partially floating body in a nearby pond when her father with assistance of local people recovered the body with injury marks and blood.
After recovery of the body, the victim’s father, filed a murder case in this connection with Kotwali Thana of RpMP.
Knowing the incident, Rangpur unit of PBI appointed Police Inspector Saiful Islam as the Investigation Officer and began shadow probe into the case and finally arrested the killer.
“During interrogation, Chhokku admitted that he tactfully lured Maysha giving Taka 2 while she was going to a shop, took her to his nearby house in absence of his wife and daughter and started abusing the victim,” the SP said.
The victim instantly started beating Chhokku repeatedly with a bamboo stick when the accused pushed Maysha hard and she died on the spot, the SP said quoting confession of the killer given during interrogation.
The killer hid the body during the daytime on Monday and finally dumped it into the nearby pond at 11 pm on the same day.
“Later, PBI produced the arrested person before a Rangpur court when he gave confessional statement under section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure of 1898 and the court sent him to the jail on Wednesday,” SP Jakir added.
