JAMALPUR, Dec 31, 2020 (BSS) – Farmers and Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) officials are expecting bumper production of green chilli in the district this current Robi season.
The Department of Agriculture Extension has fixed a target to produce 13,564 tonnes of green chilly in the district.
DAE office sources said a total of 8,170 hectares of land have been brought under the green chilli cultivation in the district to meet the production target. This year 30 hectares of more land were brought under the cultivation than the last year.
DAE distributed seed and fertiliser among 6,000 small and marginal farmers.
Deputy Director of DAE Md Aminul Islam said farmers have already started plucking green chilli and they are also getting fair price of the chilli. If the weather remains favourable farmers will get bumper production of green chilli this year, he added.
