Mosquito coil distribution begins at JU
SAVAR, July 10, 2018 (BSS) – Free mosquito coil distribution began on
Jahangirnagar University (JU) campus here today to prevent mosquito-borne
disease.
Jahangirnagar University Science Club (JUSC) in association with ACI
Limited started the distribution of mosquito coil on the campus.
JU Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Farzana Islam inaugurated the
distribution at a function held at the Senate hall of the university in the
morning.
Addressing the function, Professor Dr Farzana Islam said, “As it is now
rainy season, it is the high time of spreading various kinds of mosquito-
borne disease including Dengue, Chikungunya and Malaria which are very common
in our country. By conducting such campaign, we will able to prevent such
mosquito-borne diseases”.
She handed over the mosquito coil boxes to the provosts of different
dormitories, chairman of departments and chief officials of different offices
of the university at the function.
While addressing the event, noted mosquito researcher Professor Dr
Kabirul Bashar said, “Different types of diseases including Dengu and
Chikungunya spread from mosquito. So, we will have to be safe from mosquito
bites anyhow to avoid this type of disease.”
JU Pro-VC Professor Dr Md Amir Hussain, Dean of Biological Sciences
faculty Professor Dr Abdul Jabber Hawlader, Adviser of JUSC Professor Dr
Khabir Uddiin, JU Registrar Rahima Kanez and ACI Official Kamrul Hasan
addressed the event, among others.
