Mass-people enjoy fruits of democracy
RAJSHAHI, Dec 31, 2020 (BSS)- Local front-ranking leaders of Bangladesh Awami League today unequivocally said the people in general are enjoying the fruits of perpetual democracy as practiced by the present government for the greater interest of the nation.
The government under the dynamic and visionary leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been taking the country forward through attaining trust and confidence of the mass-people.
The leaders came up with the observation while addressing a public meeting organized by Rajshahi City unit of the ruling party at Shaheb Bazar Zero Point on the occasion of the Victory Day of Democracy today.
Rajshahi Mayor AHM Khairuzzaman Liton, also the city unit president of the party, addressed the meeting as focal person, while General Secretary Dablu Sarker conducted the programme.
Valiant Freedom Fighter Muhammad Ali Kamal and Valiant Freedom Fighters Naosher Ali, Dr Tabibur Rahman Sheikh, Meer Iqbal, Advocate Aslam Sarker and Rejaul Islam, among others, spoke.
Mayor Liton said the BNP-Jamaat evil alliance launched arson terrorism and created an anarchic situation before and after the 10th parliamentary elections held on January 5, 2014 to thwart the continuation of democracy.
‘Huge people were killed in the arson attacks carried out by BNP-Jamaat and large number of people who received burn injuries in the attacks are bearing untold sufferings, he added.
He also said the Awami League government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is determined to establish and safeguard the people’s democratic rights and build a society with the spirit of the great liberation war and democratic values.
‘When the country is marching towards its cherished goals on the way of continuous progress, the defeated forces of the liberation war are out to hatch different conspiracies to halt the country’s progress and democratic practices’ the mayor said.
Mayor Liton urged the people to strengthen the hands of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her government for further development of the country.
