124 more tested positive for COVID-19 in Ctg

CHATTOGRAM, Dec 30, 2020 (BSS) – A total of 124 people were tested positive for coronavirus in the last 24 hours after testing 1,834 samples at eight COVID-19 laboratories in the district.

Among the newly detected patients, 105 are from Chattogram city and 19 from different upazilas of the district, hospital sources said.

The number of coronavirus (COVID-19) positive cases reached 30,214 amid the frequent rising trend in the daily infection rate in recent days only in the district, Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi, civil surgeon of Chattogram, told BSS today.

Among the total infected patients, 23,394 are the residents of the port city and the rest 6,862 are residents of different upazilas of the district.

Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi said the death toll from the virus rose to 356 with two fatalities reported afresh in the last 24 hours.

A total of 29,142 coronavirus patients have so far recovered from Covid-19 and the percentage of recovery rate stands at 96.43 percent in the district, Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi said.

The recovered patients were discharged from different home isolations and Dedicated Corona Isolation Hospitals of the district as two consecutives real-time PCR tests were found negative, he said.

Besides, 1,358 patients are undergoing treatment at isolation units of different hospitals in the port city.
