Six brick kilns fined Taka 10 lakh in Rangpur

RANGPUR, Dec 30, 2020 (BSS) – A mobile court has fined six brick kilns Taka 10 lakh for illegally erecting and running those violating environmental laws and constructing other unlawful structures polluting the environment.

The district administration with assistance of the Specialised Crime Prevention Company of Rapid Action battalion (RAB)-13, Department of Environment (DoE) and Fire Service and Civil Defense conducted the mobile court at the brick kilns in Mithapukur upazila of the district on Tuesday, a press release said today.

The court, led by Executive Magistrate Mahmud Hasan Mridha, imposed the fines on the owners and managers of the six brick kilns located at different villages in the upazila.

The court fined Golam Mostafa Taka two lakh, Dinesh Chandra Barman Taka 50,000, Arjun Babu Sarder Taka two lakh, Moshiar Rahman Taka 1.50 lakh, Gias Uddin Taka 2.50 lakh and Abdus Salek Taka 1.50 lakh during the drives.

Executive Magistrate Mahmudul Hasan Mridha said such operations of the district administration would be continued in all eight upazilas of Rangpur district.

“The operation was aimed at curbing various unlawful activities harmful to the environment and banned by the government,” he added.

Officials and personnel of the district DoE, RAB-13 and Fire Service and Civil Defense were present.
