Bangladesh Navy clinch V-Day Hockey’s title
DHAKA, Dec 27, 2020 (BSS) – Mahbub Hossain slammed a brilliant hat-trick as Bangladesh Navy clinched title of the Victory Day Hockey competition beating Bangladesh Air Force by 5-0 goals in the final held today at Moulana Bhasani National Hockey Stadium here.
In the day’s match, Mahbub scored hat-trick with three goals on 18th, 33rd and 40th minutes while he was well supported by Ashraful Islam and Moinul Islam who scored one goal each for Navy in the 51st and 54th minutes respectively.
The champions received Taka 30,000.00 (Thirty thousand) while the runners-up got Taka 20,000.00 (twenty thousand) as prize money.
Asharful Islam of the champion team received the highest scorer (eleven goals) award while Mahbub Hossain, who received Taka 10,000.00 (ten thousand) as prize money, was named the man of the tournament for his impressive performance.
State Minister for Youth and Sports Mohammad Zahid Ahsan Russell, MP, was the chief guest in the final and distributed the prizes.
Bangladesh Hockey Federation’s president and Air Chief Marshal Masihuzzaman Serniabat was also present on the occasion.
The competition was arranged on the occasion of birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
