RAJSHAHI, Dec 27, 2020 (BSS) – Inspector General of Bangladesh Police Dr Benazir Ahmed has categorically said there is no room for drug-addicts in police force.
“We have already started dope testing of the police members to take departmental action against all the drug-addict police and the process will continue. We want to clean the police force,” he said.
The IGP came up with the observation while inaugurating the Operation Control and Monitoring Centre of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP) along with its Juvenile Digital Database and Hallo RMP APP at the premises of under-construction RMP Headquarters as chief guest.
RMP Commissioner Abu Kalam Siddique, Deputy Inspector General of Police Abdul Baten and other high police officials were present on the occasion.
Close Circuit (CC) Cameras were set up at all the important places and crossings in the RMP areas under the operation control and monitoring centre to monitor round the clock. Besides, the centre will play a pivotal role towards screening the suspects and criminals movement together with identifying the criminals quickly.
Apart from this, particulars of around 400 juveniles have so far been incorporated in the Juvenile Digital Database. All sorts of public services like police clearance certificate, online GD and 999 national emergency services from RMP were simplified through the newly launched Hallo RMP App.
IGP Dr Benazir Ahmed has sounded that no more members involved in illicit trading and trafficking of drugs will remain in the police force.
“We have already started taking drastic action against them who will be found guilty,” he said, adding that no one member involved in tarnishing the police image will go unpunished.
Later, the IGP took part in a view-exchange meeting with members of the police from different units in the Rajshahi region.
