Two held with 30 kg ganja in Rangpur

RANGPUR, Dec 26, 2020 (BSS) – Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-13) seized 30 kg of smuggled ganja, a cargo truck and other goods and arrested two presumed drug traders from village Godadhar in Pirgachha upazila of the district on Friday night.

“An operational team of the Crime Prevention Specialised Company (CPSC) of RAB-13 searched the stone-laden cargo truck and arrested its driver and helper with smuggled ganja and other goods from the spot,” said a press release issued here this afternoon.

During the raid, the elite force seized the smuggled ganja especially packed in six sacs, two mobile phone sets, the truck, two SIM cards and a memory card and Taka 8,500 in cash from the possessions of the arrested persons.

The arrested people are truck driver Amir Hamza Sajeeb, 33, son of Md. Azim Mandal of village Bangram and helper Md. Sahanur, 34, son of Md. Monser Sheikh of village Chandipur in Santhia upazila of Pabna district.

“During primary interrogation, the arrested persons admitted that they had been tactfully carrying the smuggled ganja after purchasing those from Hatibandha frontier areas in Lalmonirhat to Ishwardi upazila of Pabna district,” the release added.

After filing a case in this connection, the elite force handed over the arrested drug traders to Pirgachha police station in Rangpur today.
