2 held with TCB’s fair-price commodities in Rangpur

RANGPUR, Dec 25, 2020 (BSS) – The Detective Branch (DB) of Rangpur Metropolitan Police (RpMP) in a drive arrested two persons here last night with stockpiled essential commodities allocated for sale at fair price amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

As per direction of Rangpur Metropolitan Police Commissioner Abdul Alim Mahmud, its Additional Deputy Police Commissioner (DB and Media) Uttam Prasad Pathak led the drive, a press release said today.

During the raid, the DB police seized stockpiled 400 kg of refined sugar in eight sacs, 54 litres of soya-bean oil in 27 bottles and 288 kg of onion in 12 sacs of Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) totally worth Taka 40,920 from the house.

The arrested persons are: Irfan Hasan Suman of Alamnagar area near a mosque in Ward No-27 under Kotwali Thana and TCB dealer Asadul Islam of Darshona Pahari Alhaj Nagar area in Ward No-28 under Tazhat Thana of RpMP in the metropolis.

The arrested persons are: Irfan Hasan Suman, 34, of Machhuapotti Alamnagar area and Harun-Ur-Rashid, 55, of Alamnagar Colony area in Ward No-27 under Kotwali police station of RpMP in the metropolis.

The DB police filed a case in this connection against the two arrested persons under the Special Power Act of 1974 with Kotwali Thana of RpMP today.

Assistant Police Commissioner (DB) of RpMP Faruk Ahmed, Police Inspectors Samiul Aslam and ABM Feroz Wahid, Sub-inspectors Taslim Uddin Ahmed, Golam Morshed and Nazmul Islam with police forces participated in the drive.
