Sheikh Russel earn hard-fought win in Federation Cup

DHAKA, Dec 24, 2020 (BSS) – Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra recorded a
hard-fought solitary goal victory over Bangladesh Police Football Club
in the group A opening match of the Federation Cup Football held today
at Bangabandhu National Stadium here.

The match was locked goalless at the breather though both the teams
got several scoring chances but failed to take the lead.

After the resumption, Tajikistan’s defender Asrorov finally broke
the deadlock in the 50th minute of the match. He sent the ball home
with a perfect finishing from the vantage position after utilizing a
free taken by Bokhtiar at the top of the D box.

Sheikh Russell Krira Chakra left the field with relief after
holding the lead of that goal till the final whistle.

Bangladesh Police football club has played tidy and aggressive
football from the beginning but all their efforts in vain going to the
border of Sheikh Russel. Lacking a perfect finish, they lost their
first match as well as full three points as well.

Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra will play their second and last group
match against Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club on December 30 following the
other group A match between Bangladesh Police Football Club and Sheikh
Jamal Dhanmondi Club on December 27.

Friday’s match: Rahmatganj Muslim and Friends Society vs Chattogram
Abahani Limited at 6 pm at the same venue.
