Testimony in Publisher Dipan murder case ends

DHAKA, Dec 23, 2020 (BSS) – Testimony to the case of Faisal Arefin
Dipan, owner of Jagriti Prakashan, has been completed.

Police Inspector Fazlul Karim testified to the court of Special
Anti-Terrorism Tribunal Judge Mohammad Mojibur Rahman.

He was then interrogated by the accused’s lawyers. After his
cross-examination, the prosecution concluded taking evidence. The
judge then set January 4 as the date for his defence. Twenty three out
of 26 witnesses in the case have testified so far.

Earlier on October 31, 2015, Dipan, 43, publisher of Jagriti
Prokashani, was hacked to death at his city’s Shahbagh office.

The case was later filed with Shahbagh Police Station accusing
unknown persons.

Those who are going to be accused in the charge-sheet are: Mainul
Hasan Shameem, 24, Md Abu Sabur, 24, (organisational name Abdus Samad
alias Sujan alias Raju alias Sad), Khairul Islam, 24 (organisational
name Jamil alias Rifat, alias Fahim alias Jishan), Abu Bakar Siddique
Sohel, 34 (organisational name Sakib alias Sajid alias Shahab), Md
Mozammel Hossain alias Saimon, 25, Md Shaikh Abdullah, 27
(organisational name Zubair alias Zaid alias Zabed alias Abu Omair),
sacked Major of Bangladesh Army Syed Ziaul Haque, 50 (organisational
name Sagar alias Ishtiak alias Boro Bhai) and Akram Hossain alias
Hasib, 28 (organisational name Abir alias Adnan alias Abdullah.
