178 more test positive for COVID-19 in Ctg
CHATTOGRAM, Dec 23, 2020 (BSS) – A total of 178 people were tested positive for coronavirus in the last 24 hours after testing 1,583 samples at eight COVID-19 laboratories in the district.
Among the newly detected patients, 161 are from Chattogram city and 17 from different upazilas of the district, hospital sources said.
The number of coronavirus (COVID-19) positive cases reached 29,241 amid the frequent rising trend in the daily infection rate in recent days only in the district, Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi, civil surgeon of Chattogram, told BSS today.
Among the total infected patients, 23,870 are the residents of the port city and the rest 5,357 are the inhabitants of different upazilas of the district.
Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi said that the death toll from the virus rose to 348 with two fatalities reported afresh in the last 24 hours.
Besides, a total of 26,802 coronavirus patients have so far recovered from Covid-19 and the percentage of recovery rate stands at 91.65 in the district, Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi said.
Besides, 1,921 patients are undergoing treatment at isolation units of different hospitals in the port city, he added.
