Bangabandhu Parishad protests vandalism of Bangabandhu’s sculpture
DHAKA, Dec 22, 2020 (BSS) – Bangabandhu Parishad has staged demonstration in the city protesting vandalism and obstruction of the construction of the sculpture of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
A human chain and demonstration rally were held at Motijheel Shapla Chattar here with the joint initiatives of Bangabandhu Parishad and various banks as well as financial institutions today.
Awami League Advisory Council Member and General Secretary of Bangabandhu Parishad Dr SA Malek inaugurated the programme through video conference.
In his speech, SA Malek said, “We are independent today because Bangabandhu was born. He has worked for the emancipation of the countrymen throughout his entire life.”
Bangabandhu will remain in the hearts of the countrymen forever, he added.
He warned the fundamentalists, who vandalized and obstructed the construction of Bangabandhu’s sculpture, saying that they would be brought to the book.
“Militants, fundamentalists, terrorists and miscreants have no place in Bangladesh,” he continued.
Bangabandhu Parishad Managing Board Member Mahbub Uddin Ahmed (Bir Bikram), Bangabandhu Parishad Central Managing Board Member Dr Sheikh Abdullah Al Mamun, former chairman of political science department of Jagannath University Professor Dr Arun Kumar Goswami, Dhaka University Senate member Liaquat Hossain, Manikganj District Awami League General Secretary Bir Muktijoddha Advocate Abdus Salam and Bangabandhu Parishad Steering Committee Member Khandaker Nazrul Islam also spoke on the occasion.
