COVID-19 cases cross 29,000 mark in Ctg
CHATTOGRAM, Dec 22, 2020 (BSS) – The number of coronavirus (COVID-19) positive cases in the district crossed 29,000 marks as 153 more new cases were diagnosed with the lethal virus after testing 1755 samples in seven COVID-19 laboratories in the last 24 hours.
“The total number of COVID-19 patients now stands at 29,063 in Chattogram district till today,” Civil surgeon Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi told BSS.
Among the total infected patients, 23,709 are the residents of the port city and the rest 5340 are the inhabitants of different upazilas of the district.
Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi said that the death toll from the virus rose to 344 with one fatality reported afresh in the last 24 hours.
Besides, a total of 26,623 coronavirus patients have so far recovered from Covid-19 and the percentage of recovery rate stands at 91.66 in the district, Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi said.
Among the newly detected patients, 134 are from Chattogram city and 19 from different upazilas of the district, hospital sources said.
Besides, 1,908 patients are undergoing treatment at isolation units of different hospitals in the port city, he added.
