Life skill training for changing lots stressed

GAIBANDHA, Dec 22, 2020 (BSS)- Speakers at a function here today urged the trainees to complete the life skill training for changing their lots economically to build a happy and prosperous country.

“Training makes a man perfect and helps him or her perform the professional work skilfully”, they said.

They made the comments while addressing the on-going training programmes on five trades- cattle rearing, goat rearing, poultry farming, small business management and development and homesteads vegetable farming at the hall room of Bonarpara Adarsha Model Primary School in Shaghata upazila of the district amidst COVID-19 pandemic situation .

Earlier, the training was launched on November 21 for the beneficiaries of a project being implemented at Shaghata and Fulchhari upazila of the district aimed at involving them in income generating activities for self-reliance .

Strengthening Women’s Ability for Productive New Opportunities (SWAPNO) project arranged the training programme for the beneficiaries of the project with the financial support of Government of Bangladesh, Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA) United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and Marico.

Rokhsana Begum, deputy director of Local Government, addressed the training programme as the chief guest, Shaghata UNO Md Mohiuddin Jahangir spoke at the programme as the special guest and Upazila engineer of Local Government Engineering Department (LGED) Sabiul Islam delivered the speech as a guest of honour.

District manager, SWAPNO-UNDP, Md. Jahidul Haque, project coordinator of Gana Unnayan Kendra (GUK) Md. Dulal Karim were also present on the occasion.

The speakers said there is no alternative of life skill training to involve in income generating activities to be self-reliant economically.

Deputy Director of Local government also urged them to be more serious and more professional to acquire knowledge from the training and to use it in their practical lives to make their income generating activities more successful and fruitful for being self-dependent.

She also advised the trainees to wear mask and to follow the health guide lines to contain the COVID -19 pandemic.

National project manager Kajal Chatterjee said the project is being implemented in 17 unions of Shaghata and Fulchhari upazilas of the district in partnership with a local reputed NGO GUK
