Labour Welfare Fund receives TK 5 crore
DHAKA, Dec 22, 2020 (BSS) – Labour Welfare Fund today received around Taka 5.12 crore from Meghna Petroleum Limited under the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources.
A four-member delegation from Meghna Petroleum Ltd. led by its General Manager (Human Resources) Akhter Hossain, handed over the cheque to Labor and Employment State Minister Begum Munnujan Sufian at the Secretariat here, said a press release.
The specified portion of the profit of this government organisation for the fiscal years 2017-18 and 2018-19 was deposited in the Workers Welfare Foundation Fund amounting Tk 2 crore 45 lakh 91 thousand 473 and Tk 2 crore 65 lakh 98 thousand 946 respectively.
According to the Bangladesh labour law, domestic and foreign companies contribute one-tenth of 5% of their profits to this fund at the end of the year, the release added.
So far, 176 companies, including domestic foreign, multi-national companies, have contributed a certain portion of their profits to the fund.
Secretary KM Abdus Salam and Director General of Bangladesh Labour Welfare Foundation Dr. Mollah Jalal Uddin and CBA President of Meghna Petroleum Ltd. Md. Sadikur Rahman, among others, were present.
