Four brick kilns fined Taka 8 lakh in Rangpur

RANGPUR, Dec 22, 2020 (BSS) – A mobile court today fined four brick kilns Taka eight lakh for illegally running those violating environmental laws and erecting illegal chimneys, which pollutes the environment.

The district administration with the assistance of Rapid Action battalion (RAB)-13, Police, the Department of Environment (DoE) and Fire Service and Civil Defense conducted the mobile court at different brick kilns in Pirganj upazila of the district.

The court, led by Executive Magistrate Mahmudul Hasan Mridha, imposed a total of Taka eight lakh as fine to the owners of the four brick kilns located at different villages in the upazila.

During the daylong drives, the court also dismantled illegal chimneys and structures harmful for the environment and other unlawfully erected structures.

Talking to reporters during the drives, Executive Magistrate Mahmudul Hasan Mridha said such operations would continue in all eight upazilas of Rangpur district.

“The operation was aimed at curbing various unlawful activities harmful to the environment and banned by the government,” he added.

Officials and personnel of the district DoE, RAB-13, Police and Fire Service and Civil Defense were present.
