91.53pc COVID-19 patients recover in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, Dec 22, 2020 (BSS) – Around 91.53 percent COVID-19 patients have recovered one an average in all eight districts of Rangpur division where the daily infection rate consistently continues to declining trend in recent days.

“A total of 13,885 coronavirus patients out total 15,170 have recovered so far at the average recovery rate of 91.53 percent in the division,” Focal Person of COVID-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui told BSS today.

Meanwhile, a total of 93,414 collected samples of Rangpur division were tested till Monday night, and of them, 15,170 were found COVID-19 positive with an average infection rate of about 16.24 percent.

The recovery rate of COVID-19 patients continues increasing amid a falling trend in the daily infection rate during the last few days in the division.

“The average COVID-19 infection rate of 16.24 percent is currently 5.63 times less that the recovery rate of 91.53 percent in the division,” Dr. Siddiqui said.

Meanwhile, more 67 coronavirus infected patients recovered on Monday raising their total number to 13,885 in all eight districts across the division.

The 13,885 recovered COVID-19 patients include 3,330 of Rangpur, 726 of Panchagarh, 1,231 of Nilphamari, 921 of Lalmonirhat, 928 of Kurigram, 1,313 of Thakurgaon, 4,092 of Dinajpur and 1,344 of Gaibandha districts.

Meanwhile, 39 new COVID-19 positive cases were reported after testing 343 collected samples at the two COVID-19 Laboratories in Rangpur and Dinajpur on Monday raising their total number to 15,170 in the division.

“The district-wise break up of the 15,170 patients stands at 3,879 in Rangpur, 761 in Panchagarh, 1,297 in Nilphamari, 953 in Lalmonirhat, 990 in Kurigram, 1,464 in Thakurgaon, 4,406 in Dinajpur and 1,420 in Gaibandha districts,” Dr. Siddiqui said.

Talking to BSS, Divisional Director (Health) Dr. Md. Ahad Ali said the number of fatalities rose to 284 in the division with one more death reported from Rangpur on Monday.

“The district-wise break up of the 284 fatalities stands at 66 in Rangpur, 100 in Dinajpur, 30 in Thakurgaon, 27 in Nilphamari, 15 in Kurigram, 15 in Gaibandha, 20 in Panchagarh and 11 in Lalmonirhat districts of the division,” he said.

The average casualty rate currently stands at over 1.86 percent in the division.

“Among the total 15,170 COVID-19 infected patients, 63 are undergoing treatments at isolation units of different hospitals after recovery of 13,885 patients and 284 deaths while 938 remaining in home isolations across the division,” Dr. Ali added.

Chief of Divisional Coronavirus Service and Prevention Task Force and Principal of Rangpur Medical College Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnabi Lyzu said the rate of COVID-19 spread started declining in recent days in Rangpur division.

“Common people should sincerely wear masks and strictly abide by the health directives of the government to remain safe and prevent further community spread of the deadly virus in the division,” Dr. Lyzu added.
