1478 houses being constructed for Jamalpur homeless people
JAMALPUR, Dec 21, 2020 (BSS) – A number of 1478 disaster-tolerant houses are being constructed to rehabilitate homeless people in the district.
District relief and rehabilitation office sources said under the shelter project taken by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, a total of 1478 houses are being erected to rehabilitate landless and homeless people.
District relief and rehabilitation officer Md Nayeb Ali said the disaster management and relief ministry has allotted Tk 25 crore 27 lakh 38 thousands for implementation of the shelter project.
He said 1478 landless and homeless families got two decimals of Khas land each for construction of the houses.
After allotment of land, semi brick-built houses with corrugated iron sheet-made roofs are being constructed at a cost of Tk 171000 each, he said.
Of the houses, 172 are being made in Dewanganj, 88 in Islampur, 400 in Jamalpur Sadar, 121 in Madarganj, 260 in Melandah, 295 in Sarishabari and 142 in Bakshiganj Upazila, he added.
The construction work will be completed by January 15 next, the official said.
