Seven brokers held from RpMCH

RANGPUR, Dec 20, 2020 (BSS) – The Detective Branch (DB) of Rangpur Metropolitan Police (RpMP) today arrested seven brokers from Rangpur Medical College Hospital (RpMCH) premises in the metropolis.

“The brokers were held while cheating and extorting money from patients who came to RpMCH and nearby clinics and diagnostic centres for treatments,” Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (DB and Media) of RpMP Uttam Prasad Pathak told BSS.

The arrested brokers are: Abul Kashem, 50, Md. Rafique, 41, Abdul Monnaf, 35, Mohammad Dulal, 45, Khorshed Alam, 67, and Md. Israfil, 32, hailing from different areas of the metropolis and Zahedul Islam, 45, of Taraganj upazila in the district.

There have been incidents of cheating and harassment of patients by brokers at RpMCH premises and adjoining areas in the metropolis for a long time.

“In the wake of these allegations, the DB police of RpMP conducted sudden raids and arrested seven members of some organised gangs of brokers and fraudsters red-handed from the RpMCH premises,” he added.

The DB police filed a case in this connection against the arrested persons with Kotwali police station of RpMP today.
