Blanket distribution started in Gaibandha
GAIBANDHA, Dec 19, 2020 (BSS) – With blowing the cold wave over the district in recent days the district administrations have started distribution of warm clothes to the poor and distressed people of all the seven upazilas of the district through upazila administration and local government bodies.
District Relief and Rehabilitation officer AKM Idris Ali said a total of 39,100 pieces of blankets were received from the Prime Minister’s fund and Taka 7 lakh were also found from the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief.
On December 7, deputy commissioner (DC) Abdul Matin formally inaugurated the blankets distribution activity to 150 poor and the river erosion victims of Kamarjani union under Sadar upazila.
As many as 23,700 pieces of blankets had already been distributed to the cold victims of the district this month.
Talking to the BSS DC Abdul Matin said all the UNOs had been instructed to purchase blankets with the money of the ministry as early as possible and to distribute the warm clothes to the cold affected people of the respective upazilas.
