One dead in migrant boat accident near Greek island
LESBOS ISLAND, Greece, Dec 18, 2020 (BSS/AFP) – A Somali woman drowned Friday and a man was missing after a migrant boat sank near the Greek island of Lesbos, local coastguard sources said.
Another 24 people were rescued from the boat, which had set off from the Turkish coast.
An Afghan man is believed to be missing meanwhile, the coastguard said.
Hundreds of asylum seekers have drowned trying to cross the Aegean Sea in recent years in unseaworthy boats and dinghies.
