Arrest warrant against 6 over lift accident at Bar Association
DHAKA, Dec 17, 2020 (BSS) – A court here today issued arrest warrant
against six people in case filed over an elevator accident at the
Dhaka Bar Association on Tuesday.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mamunur Rashid passed the order after
taking the plaintiff’s statement into cognizance.
Earlier, Dhaka Bar Association General Secretary Md Hossain Ali Khan
filed the case against the six persons with the court of Mamunur
Rashid on the day, office secretary of the bar association HM Masud
confirmed the matter.
The accused are: Managing Director of Lead Architects Limited Md
Zakiul Islam, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Green Elevator
Technology Engineer AR Arif, Proprietor of Fortune Engineering HM
Afzal Hossain, City Inter DUC and Construction Partners Md Abdul Jalil
and Md Motaleb and CEO of Smart Tower and Technology Engineer MA Kabir
Sumon.
According to the case statement, the accused persons had dealt for
setting up an elevator with a capacity of eight people. But they
cheated on the Dhaka Bar Association by supplying substandard lift to
the association for which the accident occurred.
On Tuesday (December 15), the elevator collapsed from the sixth
floor of the bar association with some passengers. The passengers were
rescued half an hour later and rushed immediately to the Shahid
Muktijoddha Ainjibi Clinic on the first floor of the bar association.
After giving primary treatment, they were transferred to National
Medical College Hospital as some of the passengers received critical
injuries.
