138 more test positive for COVID-19 in Ctg

CHATTOGRAM, Dec 17, 2020 (BSS) – A total of 138 people have tested positive for coronavirus in the last 24 hours in the port city.

A total of 1,581 samples were tested in the 24 hours at eight COVID-19 laboratories in the district. Among the newly detected patients, 129 are from Chattogram city and nine are from different upazilas of the district, hospital sources said.

The number of coronavirus (COVID-19) positive cases reached 28,461 amid the frequent rising trend in the daily infection rate in the district, Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi, civil surgeon of Chattogram, told BSS today.

Among the total patients, 22,374 are the residents of the port city and the rest 5,980 are the inhabitants of different upazilas of the district.

Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi said the death toll from the virus rose to 336 with two fatalities reported afresh in the last 24 hours.

Meanwhile, a total of 25,743 coronavirus patients have so far recovered from Covid-19 and the percentage of recovery rate stands at 90.45 in the district,” Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi, civil surgeon of Chattogram, told BSS today.

The recovered patients were discharged from different home isolations and Dedicated Corona Isolation Hospitals of the district as two consecutives real- time PCR tests were found negative, he said.

Besides, 1,944 patients are undergoing treatment at isolation units of different hospitals in the port city, he added.
