Victory Day being celebrated in Panchagarh
PANCHAGARH, Dec 16, 2020(BSS) – The Victory Day is being celebrated here today in a befitting manner amid COVID-19 pandemic situation.
District administration, freedom fighters, political parties and various social and cultural organizations paid rich tributes to the 1971 Liberation War martyrs on the day.
The day’s programme began with heralding a 31-gun salute soon after the sun rises in Muktijoddha area.
Parliament Member from Panchagarh-1 constituency Md. Mojaharul Houque Prodhan, Deputy Commissioner Sabina Yeamin, Superintendent of Police Yousuf Ali, Zila Parishad Chairman Anower Sadat Samrat paid homage to Father of the Nation and war heroes by placing wreaths at Bangabandhu Mural in the town.
A doa was offered for eternal peace of the departed souls of Bangabandhu and Liberation war martyrs.
The national flag was hoisted atop all government office and private buildings here.
Similar programmes were taken in all five upazilas of the district.
