44 more reported COVID-19 positive in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, Dec 15, 2020 (BSS) – Forty-four more people were detected

coronavirus (COVID-19) positive today after testing their samples at the two COVID-19 laboratories in the division.

Health officials said 44 new cases were reported today after diagnosing 376 samples collected from all eight districts of the division at the infection rate of 11.70 percent.

Earlier, the daily infection rates were 15.16 percent on Monday, 16.15 percent on Sunday, 20.69 percent on Saturday, 10.64 percent on Friday, 13.03 percent on Thursday, 15.42 on Wednesday and 15.69 percent on Tuesday last in the division.

Among the 44 new patients diagnosed today, 26 were reported positive after diagnosing 188 samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) in Rangpur city.

“The 26 new patients include 22 of Rangpur, three of Lalmonirhat and one of Gaibandha district,” said Chief of Divisional Coronavirus Service and Prevention Task Force and Principal of RpMC Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnabi Lyzu.

On the other hand, 18 new patients were reported after diagnosing 188 samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur today.
“The 18 new COVID-19 patients include 16 of Dinajpur and two of Thakurgaon districts,” Principal of MARMC Professor Dr. Syed Nazir Hossain told BSS after completing the testing process at 7:20 pm.

Talking to BSS, Divisional Assistant Director (Health) and Focal Person of COVID-19 for Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui said the number of COVID-19 patients rose to 14,949 in the division as 44 new cases were reported today.

“Of the total 14,949 patients, 3,825 are in Rangpur, 753 in Panchagarh, 1,280 in Nilphamari, 945 in Lalmonirhat, 987 in Kurigram, 1,445 in Thakurgaon, 4,311 in Dinajpur and 1,404 in Gaibandha districts,” he said.
