Pacer Sumon Khan fined for breaching code of conduct

DHAKA, Dec 15, 2020 (BSS)—Fortune Barishal pace bowler Sumon Khan was fined 25 percent of his match fees for breaching the BCB Code of Conduct in the Bangabandhu T20 Cup Eliminator match against Beximco Dhaka at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Monday.

The player was found guilty of showing dissent at the umpire’s decision twice during the match which is constitutes to a Level 1 offense. The incident happened when the umpire called two wides off Sumon’s bowling in the 16th over.

Level 1 breaches carry a minimum penalty of an official warning and a maximum penalty of a fine of 50 percent of a player’s match fees and one or two demerit points. Sumon accepted the sanction and as such no official hearing was required.

The charge was brought forward by on-field umpires Gazi Sohel and Mahfuzur Rahman, third Umpire Masudul Rahman Mukul and fourth Umpire Muzahiduzzaman Swapon and the penalty was imposed by Match Referee ASM Roquibul Hassan.
